With a heavy starcast such as Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul. Director N Lingusamy has made a rocking tamil movie for this pongal. After Paiyaa, this is the next movie for Lingusamy.

Now, let us read the Vettai Movie Review.

Plot:

 Thirumurthi and Gurumurthi,  Madhavan and Arya respectively are brothers from a family where taking up the Police profession was respected. They are originally from Thoothukudi. Thiru grows like a innocent boy, whereas Guru grows into a naughty bully. Guru develops himself as a Gunda, and protects his brother, Madhavan.

Thiru and Guru,  run into two naughty sisters ‘Vasanthi’ and ‘Jayanthi’- Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul. First it starts as a tiff, and when time goes by the sisters fall in love with the brothers. Vasanthi will love Thiru and Jayanthi will love Guru.

And then the baddie, enters the screen. Asutosh Rana and his gang of gundas, enter thoothukudi and threaten the people in every way. Co incidentally Madhavan is made as the inspector of the police department, on the lines of his father and Grand father. Madhavan transforms as a  police officer, but he will be very timid and soft natures. His  colleagues Nasser and Thambi Ramaiah, misunderstands that he is brave, by a series of funny incidents.

Sameera and Madhavan marry each other, and problems starts from there. The villain gives trouble, so Arya moves to the villain side and pretends he is one of them, the baddie comes to know about this and beats up Arya. Did Madhavan come for rescue, did he turn up bold, or get on with cowardice till the last.

Performance

 Lingusamy  once again proved that he is the best action director in the K-town, his fast screen keeps the movie in the right pace. And it never gets mediocre at any moment. Both Madhavan and Arya have given out great and contrasting acting. Amala Paul is getting hotter and hotter in each movie. Surely this move will increase the realm of her fandom. Naser and Thambi Ramiah , though their roles are cameo, they have done justice to their roles.

Nirav Shah’s Cinematography is very appreciative. And can be told as the very important component of the film. Yuvan’s rocking paparappan ,usic, makes you tap your feet, and the BGMs take you into the scene, and gives goosebumps at times. And Antony’s editing makes the movie fast paced, and never make us feel the jump.

Final Review:

This movie will be a comeback for Madhavan and another hit movie for Lingusamy. Amala paul will enter the hearts of the fans. But sometimes too much of Action gets us down. Hope you enjoyed our Vettai Movie Review.

Now let us see the Businessman Movie Review.

Plot:

Suriya (Mahesh Babu) is a letharigic young guy, who goes to Mumbai, with the aim of becoming the greatest don ever in Mumbai. As soon as he comes to Mumbai, he notices his foe, the local police Commissioner (Nasser). But to his Surprise, The police officer has a beautiful daughter Chitra (Kajal). And as usual the hero falls in love with the gorgeous Chitra.

Then the film takes some interesting twists. Did Mahesh Babu become the greatest Don? Did Kajal and Mahesh join hands? That is the rest of the story.

Performance:

After Dookudu, Mahesh Babu has given a nice show. Mahesh Babu has proven himself as a mature actor. In some scenes, his dialogue delivery is very appreciative. Puri jagannath has utilized Magesh Babu to the fullest. Kajal Agarwal is used as a Glam doll. In the song ‘Sir Ostharosthara’ She has very generously showed her body. Her Acting Skills are not very appreciative.

Prakash Raj has given out nice performance, likewise Shiyaji Shinde as the politician, both have given out nice acting.

Thaman’s music is well done. Especially the background music, when Surya turns into a Big Mafia. And the Picturization of the songs are also very nice.

As we know, Puri is a master in screenplay. The movie is in the right pace. Eventhough the story is obvious, the screenplay takes you with the pace. Puri’s Direction has been improved, comparing with his later movies.

Verdict: A typical Puri Jagannath Sankaranti Treat.

Shankar’s Nanban is the remake of hindi blockbuster movie ‘3 Idiots’ which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The movie is based on the novel ‘Five Point Someone’ by Chetan Bhagat.

In the Hindi version, It was Aamir Khan who played Vijay’s role. Maddy and Sharman Joshi played the roles of Srikanth and Jeeva respectively. And illeana’s role was played by Kareena Kapoor.

Plot:

The movie starts in a hostel premises, where the seniors rag the juniors. Senthil (jeeva) and Venkat Ramakrishnan (Srikanth) are brutally ragged by the seniors. At that time, (Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay) Panjavan Pari Velan enters the scene and escapes from the scene in a clever fashion. After this incident, the three becomes close friends.Vijay is shortly called as Pari.

The college principal is the strict professor Dr.Virumaandi Sandhanam(Sathyaraj). Nicked by students as ‘Virus’. Sathyaraj wants to maintain strict discipline by all means. But Vijay is cool guy, and does not take anything serious in life. And he has his cool tag ‘All is Well’. And says it to everyone and tackle the problem cool.

On the Other side, the geeky bookworm Srivatsan(Sathyan) who is mocked as ‘Silencer’, in the effort of being smart before Virus, always puts down the three friends.

In the backdrop, the families of Jeeva and Srikanth are portrayed. Jeeva is pious and innocent, who loves to have fun, but focuses on study because of family poverty. Venkat has a passion for wildlife photography, but for parents compulsion he studies engineering.

In a funny scene, Pari meets Anariya(Illeana) a medical student, and they become friends, later he comes to know that Anariya is Virus’s daughter and she is engaged to a rich guy. Then later, Illeana and Vijay fall in love.

All get graduated from college, and suddenly Vijay goes missing. How the others find him, Where was Vijay, Did Vijay and Illeana get married? That is the rest of the movie.

Performance

 It is great to see Vijay without Mass openings and loud punch dialogues. Vijay has proven himself as a matured actor in the movie. Supporting Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth have also given their best shot. We can see Shankar’s Direction in every frame. After Kaavalan, Nanban cleary exhibits Vijay’s character oriented acting. And this change is very much appreciative.

Illeana is a pleasant surprise, She can act, dance and she is hot. Surely this movie will mark her presence in Kollywood. Anuya and S J Surya, eventhough their roles are cameo, they have given out their best.

Sathyaraj and Sathyan, the Kovai brothers will surely sweep you off your feet with their acting skills. They are the pillars of the movie, and they have given out extraordinary acting.

Technical review:

Director Shankar, takes yet another leap in his career. His efforts is very evident, and the movie is longer than the Hindi version, the extras Shankar added were sweet and making it better. Harris Jeyaraj’s Music makes you glued to the screen. And takes you feel the character.

As usual, Shankar has done the songs in a great way, it will be surely a visual treat for the audience. Manoj Paramahansa’s Cinematography and T Muthuraj’s Art Direction have made the scenes more real.

Verdict:

Nanban is a family entertainer with a nice message. It is not only for Vijay fans, but for all the Tamil audience. And it is definitely better than the Original version.

Idhazhin Oram – The Innocence of Love

Idhazhin oram is a melody with a club song tune, It makes you dance for the electro beats. It is very nice to hear sweet Tamil words wrapped inside electro trance music. Idhazhin Oram is another hit song for sure. Anirudh has not disappointed us. The song is sung by Ajeesh and Anirudh, Classmates at Loyola. The Duo has done it awesome.

Kannazhaga- The Kiss of love.

 Kannazhaga is a love song sung by Shruthi  Hasan and Dhanush. The tune is unique and excellent. Never goes mediocre at any point of the song. Dhanush has proven again that he is a pro. Or we are not sure whether it’s the software. Shruthi’s voice is mesmerizing.

Come on girls- The Celebration of Love.

This is the song which will be played in the radio and music channels all the time. A true masterpiece focused for the youth! Easily addictive (like kolaveri.) Anirudh’s experiments with music has a striking new effect to the kollywood. Surely the next trend. Come on Girls seems like the fusion of  Dappa Kuthu, electro and Classical. Will make you rape the reply button.

Nee Paartha Vizhigal – The touch of love.

Vijay Yesudoss and Swetha Mohan, the proud successors of  great music legends Yesudoss and Sujatha  respectively have sung this song. It is another melody. The Chorus part gets inside your heart, the first time you hear. The rest of the song are not upto the Anirudh mark, but when you see it objectively This is a very nice song.

A life Full of love – Theme Music

A two minute visit to the heaven. The Orchestration is par with  maestro’s such as Yanni and Rehman. It is unbelievable that this kind of a out of the world music comes from a debutant. It is clearly visible how much Anirudh loves music, and how much he lives it in every breath he takes. Truly exceptional and Mind Blowing.

The Rhythm of Love – Theme Music

A full power packed piece of music, with excellent Orchestration and Composition. The kind of music which will drive you crazy. Which will pull you inside the fast whirlpool of music. Kudos!

Po Nee Po – Pain of Love

Po nee Po is a very nice piece of music for the crest fallen hearts.  As the name of the song tells, the Pain of Love has portrayed in the song very nice, that you can feel the pang in your heart. Such an impact is very hard to produce without visualization. Mohit Chauhan’s crispy voice, cuts us like knife, making the pain of love so real!

Theme of ‘3’

Wow! I am overwhelmed to write a review for this theme. This is a Mind Blowing piece of music. Death Metal interventions in the middle will give Goosebumps for sure! I am controlling myself not to praise Anirudh. But he gives a strong feeling that he is the next best thing from Tamil Nadu to the world. Way to Go!

Po Nee Po Remix- the Scream of Love.

The Scream of Love is the Metal version of the Sond Po Nee Po, fusion of Club and metal and inducing Melody. I think none other than Anirudh Ravichandar can do it.

Verdict- Overshadowing Nanban is next; Anirudh Ravichandar is the next best thing which Tamil Nadu has in store for the world. The Birth of a new trend, Music reborn.

Ilayathalapathi Vijay’s Nanban is the most anticipated movie of the year 2012. The Music is composed by Harris Jeyaraj. The Official Album release took place in Hindustan College Grounds, Coimbatore. The Songs have come out good. Some stay in the heart.

1. En Frienda Pola

‘En Frienda Pola’ is the rocking first single of the Album, the Slow ‘Tap Clap- Tap Clap’ beats are made with an intention of making this song the friendship anthem of the Youth. And well they have succeeded. The song stays in your mind, and will surely make you hum to the tune. Vivega has written the lyrics with lot of feelings, that will give you gossebumps at times. The electric Lead makes the song more powerful.

2.Heartiley Battery (ALL IS WELL)

Heartiley Battery aka All is Well, is another song which makes you tap your feet, the peppy track with a little bit of jazz fusion at the interludes gives a whole new sensation. Hemachandran and Mukesh have retained the spirit throughout the song.  In some places the song resembles Harris’s earlier compositions. The Kolaveri trend of composing in Tanglish  can be noticed in this song too. when Na Muthukumar wrote ” Follow youru heartu beatu“.

3.Asku Laska

Asku Laska is a very melodious track in the movie, Harris Jeyaraj has proved that he is the strongest in the genre. Madhan Karky’s intense lyrics (in many foreign languages too) and the voices of Chinmayee and Vijay Prakash, takes you to a  totally different state of mind. Kudos!

4.Endhan Kan Munnae

Endhan Kan Munnae is a typical Harris Jeyaraj guitar melody, like ‘Mudhal Naal Indru’ from Unnale Unnale. But I would say, this is more appealing. The song is 2 minutes bridge.The track will make you feel that Karky’s lyrics and Aalap Raj’s Voice with Harris’s music when put together makes wonders. Short and Sweet.

5.Irukaanna Illaiyaana Idupaala

Irukaana Illaiyaana is whole new type of song. Peppy and Funky with hilarious lyrics. You can’t help anything, but dance!  Vijay Prakash, Javed Ali and Sunidhi Chauhan have sung it so good that you will rape the reply button. Ethnic Vocals in the interludes give shrilling fresh experience.

6. Nalla Nanban

Nalla Nanban is WOW! A slow touching song with the fresh deep voice of Ramakrishnan Murthy, An American carnatic singer from California. The Authentic Carnatic feel embraced by the latest technology of Music Industry. The Music is transcendental at places, and makes you cry if you listen what the veena and the mirundhangam speak with each other in the divine sanctum of music.

Vikram has shown his best as usual. But comparatively with his other movies, there is no big scope for acting. But he has done justice to the Anal Murugan Character. Deeksha Seth has given a good show. Her beauty and acting will surely win your heart. K Viswanath’s character is important in the movie and he has done good job. Thambi Ramaiah and Mayilsami have also done nice acting. Pradeep has emerged as a stunning villain to the kollywood.

Director Suseenthiran has done a decent job in directing the movie, the screenplay takes us in a fast pace. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music makes us tap our feet. The songs taken in foreign are pleasant. The cinematography by R. Madhi and Editing by Mu. Kasi Viswanathan are commendable..

Verdict- A Mass movie , where you can take all the members of your family.

Mouna guru is directed by director Shantakumar. He is debuting in the movie. After watching the movie you will that, the tamil industry has got another talented director. The speciality of the movie is that each scene is unpredictable.

Mouna guru Is  a story about a lad named ‘Karunakaran’ (Arulnidhi). He seems like a serious guy who is different from the ordinary youth and he concentrates only on his studies. He is kind and brave. But fate starts playing games with his life. He goes to a public phone and calls his brother, but the gets stuck. He asks the shop owner for his Rs.2, but the owner refuses. So he tries to strike the phone, but it breaks open and all the coins scatter down. “I ll just take my two rupees’ he says.The shop keeper thinks he does it on purpose. From there the movie turns into a whirlpool.

Later being a proficiency student, he finds himself in the wrong time and in the wrong place. Because of a series of incidents, he moves to Chennai to his brother’s place. As soon as he goes there, he finds that he is un invited, his sister-in-law sulks every time she sees her. Understanding this Karunakaran thinks of moving out. And then there is Aarthi (Iniya) his sister- in-law’s sister.The only being who is compassionate to Arulnidhi. She is a medical student and she shows sympathy to him.

In the Meanwhile, Different scenes take place around the city. A police Chase scene, and a pregnant police officer (Uma Riyaz Khan) transferred from Madurai to Chennai who is also into a serious investigation.

As an Actor, Arulnidhi is more matured and composed. Comparing his older films he is putting himself very well in front of the camera. Everyone whether the role is big or small, has acted very well, Uma Riyaz needs a special appreciation, for her outstanding performance in the movie.

Santhakumar has proven himself as a unique director. It is sometimes very hard to recognize that this is his first movie. Hats off to the director.

Verdict- Surprisingly Good.

Mambattiyan

Are you ready to hear the story?

The movie takes us to a remote village in Tamil Nadu. As expected the story revolves around our male hero Mambatiyan (Prashanth). This village is under the control of a vicious zameendar (Kotta Srinivasan). The zameendar does away with Mambattiyan’s father (Vijayakumar) who opposed him; this in turn enrages Mambattiyan and he kills the landlord and his entire family. He then takes refuge in the forest and decides to help all those they can, fair to say in a Robin Hood sort of way.  He is known to be short tempered, and his sheer existence scares the corrupt. He is however adored by locals for his honesty and bravery. There is an emphasis on the blossoming romnance between Kannathal (Meera Jasmine) and Mambattiyan. As the movie progresses police come into play, leading to the involvement of Ranjith (Prakash raj) in the pursuit of Mambattiyan. What happens next? We won’t spoil the fun for you.

The movie is not out of the ordinary but certainly Prashanth and the lead actors put on a spectacular show. This movie marks Prashanth’s comeback to the silver screen and he certainly excels in bringing his character to life. Vadivelu’s comedy is nothing to shout about. Thiagarajan pulled out all the stocks for filming, not flinching to use latest technologies. Music does consist of some remixes but might set well with most.  To sum it up, it may be the same storyline you have watched in countless movies but it is taken entertained and interested. Could have made it better!

Verdict – Familiar Story said in a Monotonous tone.

Osthi velan- The inspector of Kaatupalayam is a stylish rocking police who bashes up all the baddies. The movie starts with a fight, when Simbu do some style tricks with his sun glasses in the middle of the fight, Simbu is introduced as a rocking star who is breaking the bones and crushing  the jaws of all the baddies. This is Osthe, the banging not so righteous stylish cop who does everything in a cinematic , non sensible way.

Simbu’s Characterization is very rocking, with all the noise,dance and masala needed for the movie, This is a great chance for STR, to prove himself as a mass hero, and Simbu has made it quite well. Dharani’s Direction makes the movie entertaining and moves it in a fast pace.

The storyline is Osthe velan grows with his Step father (Nazar) and Step Brother (Jithan Ramesh), who are very unloving and sarcastic. The Only being that loves Osthe is his mother (Revathi).

Neduvaali (Richa Ganagopadhyay) is a lovely village sweetheart, who lives with her alcoholic father (VTV Ganesh). VTV Ganesh is a potter in the movie, and the comedy sequences with Ganesh and Santhanam will surely have you in stitches. Santhanam has acted as a police officer who is a sidekick to Simbu.

Sonu Sood is the baddie, who sees Osthe as a hurdle to his political growth, so he kindles fight between the brothers (Simbu and Ramesh) who are already in a very bad relationship.

The story is  simple and pretty Ordinary, and you can easily guess the next scenes, but Dharani has built up the pace, and doesn’t let us feel monotonous. There are a lot of fights and Shoot outs to keep you engaged. And a very fancy climax fight too. Richa Gangopadhyay has given a very matured acting in this movie also. With Mayakkam Enna and Osthe, she can surely wait for her hatrick! The music is composed by Thaman, and all the songs simply rock. ‘Kalasala’ which stars Mallika Sherawath shaking her booty is a sizzling hot number sung by great legend L.R.Eeswari  and the thunderous voice of TR. The song will surely make you tap to the rhythm.

If you want to criticize the movie, The movie is supernatural, with lot of non-logical, and stupid scenes. Simbu has taken a mass hero role and the movie is nothing off beat, just the same old, kuthu songs, men flying in the fight scenes and punch dialogues. But! That is what the fans expect. This is the genre which will entertain us to the fullest, This non sense makes each our penny worthy.

Verdict- Screw all the non-sense and enjoy the banging Robin hood cop, who takes us in a two hour roller coaster ride. OSTHI MAAMEY!

The Dirty Picture

Even Before the release of the sizzling images of the movie, Vidya Balan’s pin-up images became the hot topic, and increased the expectations to a great level. And we would like to say, that the Dirty Picture has lived up to our expectations.

The storyline-

Reshma(Vidya Balan), a poor village girl runs away from her home to achieve her passion of being a film actress. First she tries to persuade some artists to give her a chance by her acting. When she realizes that her acting will not appeal them, she comes up with her sexuality. And this eventually gets her a chance to dance on the stage. By the way she moves her sexy torso, she makes Abraham (Emraan Hashmi), the young director hate her. On the other side, A well known producer falls in love with her. With producer Selvaraj’s Jelp, Reshma enters the film industry as ‘Silk’. And with her sexy appearances she becomes an instant Hit.

When Time goes by she comes to realize that people only love her body, which will perish when time goes by. She feels embarrassed and chagrinned. The rest of the movie portrays the pathetic story of a sex icon who struggles deep inside for acceptance, love and self-respect.

Review:

Vidya Balan has truly expressed an exceptional acting in the movie. Her Body language and Dialogue delivery sync so much with the character she plays. She has surely won many a hearts with her sizzling appearance as the item girl. Other notable performances include Naseerudin Shah- who plays as Superstar Suryakant. Emran Hashmi probably did not give his best. A lot more is needed from him to suit with the role of an angry young film maker.

Kudos to Milan Luthria for a bold new initiative. He has proved himself as a mature film maker. Special appreciation to the art direction for giving the vintage look to the movie, the music and dance choreography supports the theme.

There are surely a lot of pitfalls in the movie, but Vidya Balan’s acting makes us forget them.

Verdict- A Dirty Picture about a sexy woman who is pure inside.
